Back in April 2016, we reported that Dignitas International Co-Founder Dr. James Orbinski was chosen for one of Canada’s most prestigious medical awards, the Teasdale-Corti Humanitarian Award by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The award recognizes physicians that make big personal sacrifices, often exposing themselves to risk.
The Royal College also put together this inspiring short video on Dr. Orbinski’s many accomplishments, which range from the characterization of the symptoms of HIV and AIDS in children to enabling the delivery of affordable medicines:
As part of receiving the award, Dr. Orbinski was invited to nominate an organization he is affiliated with to receive a donation. We’re very happy to report that he chose Dignitas International to receive $2,500, all in support of our medical and research programs.
We are grateful for the continued support Dr. Orbinski and our many other supporters offer Dignitas. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to continue our mission to advance the right to health for marginalized people and underserved communities around the world.
